How common core standards can complement existing educational reforms Core Commons is designed by the Education Commission of the States (ECS) to serve as a resource to states, policymakers and the public on the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. ECS tracks state progress on the development and implementation of common core strategies and policies. In addition, ECS explores the critical issues states encounter as they move to full implementation.

PTA's resource on the Common Core State Standards Initiative... The Parents' Guide to Student Success is Available! National PTA® partnered with experts on the Common Core State Standards to create grade by grade guides that reflect the standards adopted by more than 40 states. Individual guides were created for grades K-8 and two were created for grades 9-12 (one for English language arts/literacy and one for mathematics). Eleven guides were created in all.

Since my concentration is in math, this was an incredibly helpful website to come across. There was a ton of really useful information; there was even a video with cartoon drawings to help explain the mathematics standards! I found myself searching through all of the links out of curiosity and interest- I definitely recommend this link to everyone, even if their concentration isn't in math. Knowing the requirements for teaching math will really help to create an effective PBL.

Mere adoption of the Common Core State Standards will be insufficient. Success in each state will hinge on implementation:
To assist states in gauging the strength of their implementation plans and to illustrate how to improve them, Education First and Achieve have partnered on the development of a new “Common Core State Standards Implementation Rubric and Self-Assessment Tool.” This is no easy task, and will require states to assume a far stronger leadership role than most have in the past. This tool sets a high quality standard for a strong state role, provides some concrete details and examples to help state leaders get there and profiles some promising state approaches. Recognizing differences in state tradition, restrictions and authority for education as well as the central role of districts and other partners in implementation, the rubric identifies a strong state role that attends to three essential outcomes:
