Excellent resource that succinctly explains a variety of information about google slides. I have decided to use google slides as a tool for students for a presentation that they will make. I have chosen it because I believe it will enhance a number general capabilities for the students. An aspect of this usage is the consideration of its legal, safe and ethical implications as is highlighted in the Australian Curriculum and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers standard 4.5 Use ICT safely, responsibly and ethically.
Legal considerations - Parental permission provided, educate students on plagiarism.
Ethical Considerations - Parental permission, plagiarism implications
Safety Considerations - Parental permission, student personal information must not be shared online.

Encourage Student Participation With The Stand Up Game via Teaching Channel | Learning with Technology | Scoop.it
Sarah Brown Wessling uses the stand-up game to encourage active participation. She asks all the students in her classroom to stand up. They are only allowed to sit down once they have participated in the discussion or share out. Sarah says this game is great for engaging tired students.

This is an awesome strategy to get the discussion flowing in the classroom. It also gets all of the class engaged because as we know, teens are not always willing to share their ideas freely so by having the option for them to share early so that they can sit down.

I also loved the idea of clicks for praise where the whole class joins in. That would be a real confidence booster for the students.

In aiming for full engagement, it is essential that students perceive activities as being meaningful. Research has shown that if students do not consider a learning activity worthy of their time and effort, they might not engage in a satisfactory way, or may even disengage entirely in response (Fredricks, Blumenfeld, & Paris, 2004). To ensure that activities are personally meaningful, we can, for example, connect them with students' previous knowledge and experiences, highlighting the value of an assigned activity in personally relevant ways. Also, adult or expert modeling can help to demonstrate why an individual activity is worth pursuing, and when and how it is used in real life.
