Flipped Learning; turning learning on its head | EdExec | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
Flipped learning – at its most basic level – means that students are encouraged to take ownership of their educational experience. Technology allows teachers to introduce a subject and students then interact with it in an active and engaged way.

12 Different Types of Blended Learning (Top Models) - TeachThought

12 Different Types of Blended Learning (Top Models) - TeachThought | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
Blended Learning is not so much an innovation as it is a natural by-product of the digital domain creeping into physical spaces.

Broadly speaking, blended learning just means a mix of learning online and face-to-face, which means it’s likely your students are already doing some form of blended learning, and have for years.

As digital and social media become more and more prevalent in the life of learners, it was only a matter of time before learning became ‘blended’ by necessity.

A Method for Deep Reading

A Method for Deep Reading | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
Many students struggle with college-level reading and writing assignments. Part of it is simply not knowing how to get the essentials from a text. I have been experimenting with a simple method I call GSSW: Gather, Sort, Shrink, and Wrap.

The goal of using this method is that students learn to write an essay, based on the readings, that is exemplary of organized, clear, accurate, and critical thinking.

12 Ways To Use Padlet In Your Classroom Tomorrow! | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
Let me introduce you to one of my new go-to tech tools: Padlet. It's free, it's easy-to-use, and it's awesome. Oh, and did I mention... no signup needed? Padlet is essentially a digital poster that can be individually or collaboratively created. Simply visit the website and click "Create" to get started building your "wall" today. Then,…

The Padlet is good to use when all the students have an internet connected device, a tablet, for example, and they have go in for audience polls, and short answers. The results and the responses can be seen by all on a screen in the classroom. All our classrooms have wifi and projectors which can be connected to laptops.

Padlet, c'est un chouette outil. A utiliser, surtout aussi pour son aspect visuel.
Leslie Varela's curator insight, November 14, 2016 11:47 PM
In my opinión this interesting tool contributes to create a good atmosphere where students can interact and share their knowledge and investigations with the whole class. Personally, I would like to use this tool in three different ways: 1) Create a feedback wall where students can post suggestions and express concerns anonymously. 2) Build a matching exercise on the wall and have students rearrange the photos and text to solve, and 3) Create a digital map and have students post their findings about new cultures. The main idea is to teach the topics using other alternatives in order to motivate students participation.

Understanding the Value of Your Voice in Content Curation | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
When it comes to writing content, there is no doubt that you want your content to be interesting and memorable. Hopefully, you are publishing a combination of original and curated content. That gives your readers interesting articles to read and a wider, more unique perspective. However, your curated content will not be valuable to your business if you don’t add your personal spin.

How to Move from Passive to Active Learning Through Open Education Resources | EdTech Magazine

How to Move from Passive to Active Learning Through Open Education Resources | EdTech Magazine | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it

Freely available, open education resources provide opportunities for college students to strengthen their critical thinking and quantitative literacy skills using sophisticated active-learning strategies.

In a 2017 Wakefield market research survey, investigators found 85 percent of college students elected not to buy one or more required hard copy course textbooks. Students also are turning more frequently to their mobile devices to complete their coursework

Their reasons included the high price of textbooks and the fact that they did not value textbooks as learning tools. Instead, students are enticed by online course content, which can be accessed anywhere on campuses equipped with modern network infrastructures.

HyperDocs are an interactive Google Doc and provide teachers with a way of presenting information to students in a fun and engaging way. They replace the standard, passive worksheet model of instruction and increase student agency. HyperDocs are much more than Google Docs that contain hyperlinks. They are carefully crafted activities that includes all of the components of the lesson in one central location.

Capturing those golden nuggets of information: the art of digital curation

Capturing those golden nuggets of information: the art of digital curation | Notebook or My Personal Learning Network | Scoop.it
I always used to save items of interest that I happened upon online as favourites. However despite creating folders, in using this system I found retrieving something became harder and harder and I was not always able to find what I was looking for. Add the fact that I tend to use commuting time to and from work to access information via my phone, I was initially sending items by email, to then have to add them as favourites once I got back to my desk top.
