About ScissorsflyIn the spirit of freedom and creativity, we designed Scissorsfly. For the first time ever, you will be equipped with something that frees your imagination to creatively collect and organize everything you love on the web, and share them with friends.

Scissorsfly originates from an open hackathon hosted at LinkedIn, when Sillicon Valley tech talents from places like Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, or CMU, MIT, Stanford, Berkerly came to play. We won the championship with the idea called ClipIt, which becomes the magic scissors at your hand today.

Web 1.0 gave you static webpages. Web 2.0 gives you interactions and collaborations with the web and the world. Scissorsfly will give you not only that, but also the initiative to tailor the web at will. It will be an experience beyond the long lasting web 2.0...

Finally, you can run wild with these scissors.
Their MissionCollecting and organizing information is really important to us. However, it could be painful from time to time. We built Scissorsfly for you to enjoy the process.
TeamWe are an early stage startup based in Mountain View (CA) and Chicago (IL). Our team is small and close-knit, with both strong engineering (e.g. Google, Yahoo!, Linkedin, eBay) and research (e.g. security, data mining, machine learning) backgrounds. For anything interesting, drop us a line at support@scissorsfly.com.

Hi, indeed this is a risk, we will offer this download this is very good feedback. But there are not many curated directories with a real business model. Because we are going to use the links blocks on external websites (blogs) like widgets and fill them with affiliate links we give people the opportunity to make money. Most curation websites don't have any way of monetizing their traffic. Our business model is based on a dutch competitor how does 20 million of revenue only in the dutch (Netherlands) market. So if people use your subject page to make their purchasing decision you have helped them and earn some money to keep the platform alive.

Brian, white labeling is on our roadmap, but not yet implemented, what type of features would you like to see?
Gianfranco Marini's curator insight, November 4, 2013 1:06 PM

A new way to collect, organize, discover, and watch the best videos on the web.

Asil's curator insight, October 12, 2013 4:38 PM

According to the site, they have the ability to strip the ads off the videos you put on your lists.  Makes me wonder how YouTube and Vimeo will react once they realize they aren't getting ad-views.  And if there are no ad-views, how the makers will feel about the loss of revenue?

The founder is James Yang.  There's a nice article about him on Social Times: http://socialtimes.com/huzzaz-makes-it-easy-to-create-and-share-video-playlists_b136571

From the article: Huzzaz is a passion project. “I just want to create something that helps make the world a better place.”

Gianfranco Marini's curator insight, October 15, 2013 3:28 AM

Mi limito a tradurre all'impronta la recensione di Robin Good

Curate All Your Open Browser Tabs with the Collectably Chrome Extension

Via Robin Good
Robin Good's curator insight, August 23, 2013 1:51 PM

Collectably is a content curation web app which allows you to bookmark any web site and to organize it into visual collections. A unique Chrome extension makes Collectably particularly useful as it pioneers the ability to save all of your open tabs into a visual collection that you can immediately prune, organize visually and sub-divide into specific groups.

This feature by itself is worth gold for any serious researcher or content curator as it allows to easily move from seeing just trees into seeing the whole forest and into organizing into logical groups for further work. Priceless.

If you frequently search and explore new information and tools online, I highly recommend it. It's that good.

Free to use.

Try it out now: http://collectably.com/

Chrome extension and Bookmarklet: http://collectably.com/#/tools

N.B.: You have by default a similar functionality available inside Firefox. It is called Group Tabs and you can activate it by goign to the View menu -> Toolbars -> Customize and by dragging the mosaic looking Tab Group icon into your browser top bar.

Try it. It's excellent. The only difference with Collectably is that Group Tabs are private to you and not shareable on the web.

Lila Hanft's curator insight, August 24, 2013 7:19 PM

If you use Chrome, you can collect several open tabs at once with this extension -- great way to save your place if you have to quite while in the middle of researching something, but also a good way to package disparate sources of information together.
