The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Christy Admiraal:  "There’s no question that anyone who considers himself or herself part of a fandom will have a different read on a piece of media from someone on the outside—whether it’s due to taking in all supplemental material, shipping a certain pairing, participating in fan theorizing, or some combination thereof—but exactly how does their experience differ from a reader or regular viewer who’s never dived any deeper into non-canonical material?"

Here is the buzz article. Delivered by a "journalist" who copy-pasted the press release in exchange of a free ride and (probably) food/drinks during a press event. You know... gotta dump those 1000 words a day.

Then you have the reality of the execution:

a great strategic move: 2nd tier heroes who won't make it to big screen deployed for TV shows. Spinning an old asset is always one of the best marketing decisions you can make.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's curator insight, November 9, 2013 5:36 PM

Disney/Marvel has inked a rather epic deal with Netflix: four series with 13 episodes each, all leading up to a final team-up miniseries. The subjects of those series: Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones. And if that wasn’t a sweet enough deal for fans, the deal is also part of a broader arrangement between the two that grants Netflix exclusive, first-run subscription rights to Disney and Marvel films - See more at: http://www.thenerdmachine.com/marvel-at-netflix-intersecting-comics-and-transmedia/#sthash.VrVc0Tpb.dpuf

In the midst of the massive geek Mecca that is San Diego Comic-Con, the big Marvel Studios movie panel had all the theater of a presidential campaign rally. Tom Hiddleston appeared in costume as Loki, the bad guy from Thor, and rallied the crowd in character. Then: so many movie stars, including the full casts of the upcoming Captain America sequel and Guardians of the Galaxy. And just when it seemed like it was over, Joss Whedon, patron saint of nerds, walked out for a Steve Jobsian one-more-thing and introduced the first teaser for The Avengers sequel. After a stellar year in 2012, what's next for comics?  Hint: there's a lot of transmedia storytelling involved.

Andrea Deydén's curator insight, September 20, 2013 6:03 PM

Bastante interesante.
