The Evolution of Vrse (To Within), and What It Means for VR Storytelling

The Evolution of Vrse (To Within), and What It Means for VR Storytelling | Transmedia: Storytelling for the Digital Age | Scoop.it
The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Alejandro Dinsmore:  "Chris Milk, one of the leading creators in the VR space is moving away from thinking about VR as a medium in which the author tells a story, and toward thinking about it as a medium in which viewers can, for the first time, step directly into the world of the creator."

The Human Element — Sherlock Holmes & the Internet of Things

The Human Element - Sherlock Holmes & the Internet of Things - Medium

Via Simon Staffans
The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Lance Weiler:  "An ambitious project that has evolved over the past year with what now amounts to a little over 1,000 collaborators stepping in and out as Sherlock Holmes & the Internet of Things ebbs and flows. As it transforms and evolves, the project has generated a unique experiential learning environment that encourages participants to apply creativity to adaptively problem solve. We’ve come to refer to it as rabbit hole learning, as participants tumble through the opening, we’re working hard to make them comfortable with the unknown."

Good stories are like springboards that set off the reader’s imagination into a realm of co-creation, where the the story evokes personal tales from the reader. These intertwine and lead to richer, memorable story experiences.

Digital Me is more than your digital you

Digital Me is more than your digital you | Transmedia: Storytelling for the Digital Age | Scoop.it
The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Sandra Gaudenzi:  "Digital Me is an adventure that started more than a year ago when I got obsessed with the idea of using personalisation to make a story that could speak to each user in a private and meanigful way. I had seen Take This Lollipop, by Jason Zada, and thought it was very clever, but I somehow felt that using personal data to speak about the self would be more helpful than using it to scare people.  How could we use data mining to empower users – rather than to sell them things? And could this narrative be a tool for self-reflection?"

The Digital Rocking Chair's insight:

Paula Bernstein:  "Usually moviegoers are instructed to turn off their smartphones while watching a film, but with "App," the new Dutch thriller directed by Bobby Boermans, viewers are encouraged to keep their phones on in order to experience the second-screen content."

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's curator insight, February 19, 2014 5:14 AM

Usually moviegoers are instructed to turn off their smartphones while watching a film, but with "App," the new Dutch thriller directed by Bobby Boermans, viewers are encouraged to keep their phones on in order to experience the second-screen content.

As the first film made with the intentional inclusion of content on a second, mobile screen, "App" relies on an app, IRIS, which is equipped with sonic technology that triggers additional content during the movie.

Though it's not required for viewing the movie, using the second screen adds layers to the big-screen narrative.

The audience will be advised to leave their devices on their laps while watching the film. When there is additional content available on the second screen, their devices will vibrate.
