I have too many opinions on this subject but I don't wish ti bore anyone. Nor do I wish to detract from the article. It is a New York Times opinion piece and you may have to register to read the entire article but I think you will find it worthwhile.
If you have children just starting on-line (for me grandchildren) there is usefull advice about dealing with cyber bullying.
But the piece is primarily targetted at an adult audience. Discussion on-line is a usefull way to expand your horizons but it comes with dangers that you don't experience in face to face exchanges.
I sm pretty thick skinned an sufficiently arrogant that I mostly ignore negative comments. But this piece offered some advice that will cause me to mend my ways a bit.

Same old adage... all publicity is good publicity? Or... 'we're making so much money, why bother with time and cost of fighting it'!

Good stories are like springboards that set off the reader’s imagination into a realm of co-creation, where the the story evokes personal tales from the reader. These intertwine and lead to richer, memorable story experiences. Click to read more.

Tablets are in the hands of every child and young adult across much of the planet. Children's and young adult storytellers take not.

Journalists and society-at-large do #Amazon and viewers a huge disservice by tagging kid-centric content as '#binge-viewing' as if putting the viewer in control of what he/she watches is a bad thing--not to mention that it has nothing to do with what Amazon is trying to accomplish with their programming for preschoolers. Creators working with Amazon have intentionally tried to step out of their adult bias and look through eyes of preschoolers. Their goal is to create engaging content that triggers curiosity and creativity. This is the same approach I advocate for storytelling and central to the persona development and audience profiling in the courses & workshops we teach via Fielding's Masters program. The fact that Amazon streaming allows for viewer controlled consumption encourages other activities because there is no #FOMO by playing through scheduled broadcasts. Seriously, how is this even remotely negative? When will we get over blaming the audience for exercising choice in content consumption? I get how this is disruptive to current business models and how media companies might not be thrilled at having to be more creative to earn attention and loyalty, but consumers should be celebrating not labeling and journalists should get on board.

Tara Sorensen, Head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios: : "We're not asking them to sit in front of the television and tie them to a block of programming [like with standard broadcast television]. They can pause it. They can rewatch it. It offers up a nice amount of flexibility, so I don't think it's just about keeping them in front of a 'screen' for us." |

Today's environment reminds me a lot of when I was first in the business. You have to adapt, you have to research, you have to be open to challenges. If you are, your career will flourish. But if you fear - watch to world go by.

This is interesting because of the soooo many scams that promise you that you can earn money sitting at home. In parenthesis (hidden) it is implied that you dont have to work hard to do it.
This is one that is not a scam but it also highlights that it was all hard work.
It is a millennial project that earns money because millennials+ are watching.

If you’re a fan of the Fast and Furious actor, you’re well aware that he has a whopping 83.6 million Facebook fans. If that doesn’t impress you, it should. He has more likes than any other actor on the planet and is very in touch with his fans – something studios would be very interested in using to their advantage to increase a movie’s exposure.
